Am I the only person on earth not at all interested in seeing what my face will look like years from now? The new FaceApp craze is filling up my Facebook feed with aged pictures. FaceApp is a Russia-based photo filter, which uses AI to digitally age your face. Really? When I look at how my face has aged thus far, why would I torture myself by looking at it older!?
Seriously, though. If there were an app that could enable you to look into your eternity – not just your face – what would you see? If you are a Christian, you would see something that would absolutely blow you away. You… only gloriously perfect. In every way, flawless. You… like Jesus Christ! This is what the bible says about your future appearance:
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. – 1 John 3:2 NIV
Wow! You will be like Him! Not your face necessarily, but your character, your inner beauty, your external attractiveness, your spiritual power, your brilliance. You are going to have such glory. You will never BE Jesus, but, you will resemble Him in ways that are today inconceivable.
However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him… – 1 Corinthians 2:9
In the meanwhile, we are works in progress. God is at work in the life of the genuinely, Spirit-filled believer. As you are obedient and faithful to Him, He is transforming you. He is using every experience – good, bad and ugly, to shape, mold and form you into the image of Christ. And He won’t quit until the job is done. As Paul said, we can be confident of this……that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6
When He is finished, you will be perfectly fitted for the eternal purpose for which you were created. He died on the cross to secure your future. So, don’t give up. Keep letting Him work on you. You are going to be more amazing than you could ever imagine! It’s all for His glory (Ephesians 3:20 & 21).
