Without a purpose, some people lose themselves in social media, binge watching their favorite shows, sports, video games – wasting hours daily. Rudderlessness is, unfortunately, very common among today’s population… many are adrift in the world. Some become followers of the crowd… whatever friends are doing, whatever is popular is what they do.

Here is the good news. You are here for a reason. God has a purpose for you! For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Paul to Christians. Ephesians 2:10
“You are His workmanship” means God made you. And he does great work! You were “created in Christ Jesus” means, if you are a Christian, you have been born again – you are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). You were created to do “good works” means YOU HAVE A PURPOSE! God “prepared beforehand” – that is in eternity past – assignments for you, and He designed you to “walk in them”. He has placed within you gifts, talents, and special abilities for His purposes. If you do not know what your gifting is, seek to discover, develop and deploy your gift(s) in the work of the kingdom of God.
Discover: Prayerfully seek your gifting and your passion by doing whatever your hands find to do as you go about serving the Lord, your family, and your neighbors.
Develop: When you have found your gifting and passion, study and practice until you become skilled in it.
Deploy: Use your gift and passion, first for God, and to serve others. (See Matthew 6:33) As you do that, you will find you are able to “walk in them”. Your gift(s) may very well provide a living for you. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. – 1 Peter 4:10.
May you know the joy of the Lord as you walk in your eternal purpose in His service. If you find your purpose, gifts and passions match the mission of Urban Light Ministries, or any of my ministries, please contact me. Perhaps, we can serve together for God’s glory.
