SIMUNYE ANNOUNCES A PRAYER MEETING

Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 7:00 PM

Streaming Live on Facebook on the Celebrate Simunye Page

We Are One

You are invited to participate in this prayer meeting as we will be praying for leaders. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 instructs Christ followers to offer up …petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. With the turmoil in the world today, we feel it is especially urgent that Christians lay aside political, cultural, ethnic and other differences to enter into united prayer for leadership of all kinds.

Celebrate Simunye is a diverse group of Springfield, Ohio area pastors and Christian leaders in Springfield Ohio. Our mission is to stimulate local churches toward biblically healthy multi-ethnic relationships. Simunye is a Zulu word that means “We Are One”. Learn more about Simunye at our Celebrate Simunye Facebook Page.

A VIRTUAL GATHERING OF DADS

I am a longtime board member of the Ohio Practitioners’ Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF). We are hosting quarterly forums in 2021 to gather in conversation with Ohio fathers. “These gatherings are an opportunity for fathers all across Ohio to come together and support each other through fellowship, information sharing, and healing. Our goal is for every father to walk away with an increased level of strength and determination to support, protect, and educate their families during these trying times”, reflected Harold Howard, President of OPNFF and Vice President of Community Care with Talbert House, Cincinnati.

The first forum, Heart to Heart, will be Saturday March 20th, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  The voices of children (ages 10-18) will be featured in the first half hour.  They’ll be guided in a conversation about school, friends and support from parents during the pandemic.  At 11:15, the format will shift to a male-only conversation among fathers, grandfathers, male mentors and father figures, focusing on the pain men are feeling during these turbulent times.

Calvin Williams, OPNFF Board Member and Coordinator of the Hamilton County Fatherhood Collaborative commented, “The event is designed for fathers and children to be supported through sharing about the impacts of the pandemic, the social and political unrest, and how these events are affecting families. It’s a way to turn towards each other versus just looking outward or globally.”

Pre-registration is required for this Zoom event – fathers can click here to complete registration.

For over seventeen years, the mission of OPNFF has been to enhance the outcomes of children, families and communities by providing information, training and encouragement to father and family-serving practitioners.  Please join us in this critical work.
